How Amy (mom of three) lost 36 pounds at age 40...

Weight Magician - Jumping Jack Queen - Energizer Amy

How would you explain your life, health and otherwise, before joining Lean & Fit?

I was in the worst shape I have ever been in; overweight, inactive, tired all the time, etc. and my 40th birthday was approaching. I felt that this was the time to do something while I was still able to. I had been in good shape throughout university and was even a size 5 at one point. I had energy and I felt great. As the years passed, I got married and had 3 children within 5 years. After each pregnancy I kept a little more of the weight on and before I knew it I was no where close to being a size 5. Life was busy. I took care of my children, worked and made no time to exercise. It was easier to pick up fast food for dinner before taking one of the boys to hockey practice than it was to cook something healthy. My days were spent being a mom; being available for my boys and putting myself last. This is how my life was up until last May. Turning 40 suddenly made me re-think my health. I felt like this was the time to really do something for myself. I saw an ad for a 21 day program and something told me that I needed to do this. Now that my boys were getting a little older I needed to make myself a priority.

How long have you been a member?

Since May 2016; about 10 months.

Why did you join the Lean & Fit program?

I was ready to do something for myself. I saw a facebook ad for the 21 day program. I had looked at it before and was afraid to try it. I had tried other gyms, boot camps etc in the past and had failed at making any progress. This time I sent a message asking a few questions. After being reassured that an absolute beginner could do this program I talked my husband into joining along with me. He reluctantly agreed and I signed us both up. We both made great progress in 21 days and have both signed up for a year since then.

How has this program changed your life?

I feel great! I’ve lost 36 pounds. I’m not tired like I used to be. I’ve gone down 3 pant sizes. Saying I have nothing to wear is a good thing now because it means that my clothes are too big. Trying something on that I wore 9 months ago and having it falling off me is an amazing feeling. While looking for before pictures to submit I realized that there aren’t a lot of photos of me. I’m usually in the back, hiding behind my kids with just my face showing. I can actually say that I enjoy exercising. I fit it into my day. When I work day shift I’ll go to an evening class. When I’m on evening shift I go to a class in the morning. My kids are benefiting as well. We’ve been making much healthier choices when it comes to meal planning and what snacks to have readily available. They aren’t always happy about the lack or Oreos but are learning to enjoy healthier snacks as well.

Has this program helped you with any health conditions?

I didn’t have any pre existing health conditions.

Amy's favourite quote...

Never quit. If you stumble, get back up. What happened yesterday no longer matters. Today's another day so get back on track and move closer to your dreams and goals. You can do it.

What do your friends and family think of your Lean & Fit success?

I have received so many weight loss compliments. It feels great that people can see how hard I have worked.

What would you like to say to people that are hesitant to join the Lean & Fit family?

Just try it! It is the best thing I have done for myself. I feel like if I can do this anyone can. I have never been an athletic person and now I’m doing push ups and burpees. I can do 50 jumping jacks in a row. When I started I was running at 7 on the treadmill and now I’m running at 14. It will be hard but if you stick with it it gets easier and you will see results. This really is the only thing that has worked for me. I have lost weight, I’m keeping it off and enjoying doing it.

Have you met any new friends here?

Everyone is super friendly. I have never heard anyone say a negative thing. The members actually encourage each other. They are happy with the successes of the other members.

Have any staff members at Lean & Fit impacted you?

They all have. The staff is great. They greet you as you walk through the door. They are all encouraging, approachable and friendly. The trainers know how to motivate you to keep going when you are ready to quit.

What are your future goals?

To continue with the program. I’d like to lose some more fat and gain muscle.
