How would you explain your life, health and otherwise, before joining Lean & Fit?

I was always a fairly active person and maintained an average bodyweight. After finishing University I started working at a typical desk job. I became less active, sat at a desk for 8 hours a day and began eating out too often. After the first year I noticed I had put on weight, my clothes didn’t fit anymore and I felt tired and sluggish all day long.

How long have you been a member?

I have been a member for 4 ½ years now! I started in early 2012 with the 10 week program. I loved it and noticed results right away. Once the 10 week program ended I became a member.

Why did you join the Lean & Fit program?

I joined the Lean & Fit program because I was carrying extra weight which I needed to lose and I needed a program that fit into my life easily. The classes are short and the gym location is convenient, I go right after work. I originally joined the program with one of my co-workers and we kept each other accountable and motivated.

How has this program changed your life?

This program has taught me how to live a healthy lifestyle! I have learned to love my workouts and the soreness that comes after it, how to structure my meals and plan ahead, and how to simplify my life. I do not count calories or spend countless hours preparing healthy meals. It took me a long time to figure out what works for me and my schedule. Now that I have gained so much knowledge in choosing and preparing healthy meals, my schedule is consistent and easy! I believe it is about simplifying your routine. I have achieved my fitness goals with this program and love knowing that I am getting stronger and healthier each day.

Has this program helped you with any health conditions?

Previously I did not have any health conditions, however, this program has definitely prevented injury and illness from occurring.

What do your friends and family think of your Lean & Fit success?

Most people are extremely supportive and impressed with my results and determination in sticking with the program. However, there are those who judge and make negative comments. For those people, I know they just don’t understand. It is easy to look at someone and assume they have achieved great results by unhealthy means. What they do not have is the knowledge on how to live a healthy lifestyle and make healthy decisions when it comes to exercise and nutrition, everything the program has taught me! My best friend Andrea (in the picture with me) has been my biggest cheerleader. We workout together and share new recipes. We keep each other accountable, which is important on those rough days when you just don’t feel like working out! Together we have both achieved amazing results. As John has said countless times, this is about a lifestyle and not a fad diet.

What would you like to say to people that are hesitant to join the Lean & Fit family?

Just do it already! A year from now you will be happy that you did! It will be extremely hard at first, and you will need to work through the pain but if you give it all of your effort, even on the worst days, then the results are definitely worth it! The trainers are extremely knowledgeable – listen to them, they are your best resource!

Have you met any new friends here?

Lots! I have become friends with all of the staff/trainers and countless members as well! It really is a community that are supportive of each other and is nothing like any other gym you have been to.

Have any staff members at Lean & Fit impacted you?

All of them! The entire Lean & Fit team are amazing! They keep you encouraged, motivated and help you every step of the way. From the ladies at the front desk who greet you with a friendly smile to the trainers who kick your butt in class. Everyone is extremely supportive of all the members. I also have to give a special shout out to Jeff who has been my personal trainer for the past 9 months. Since working with Jeff, I have lost 30 pounds of body fat and increased muscle. He has pushed me harder than anyone could have and has helped me become stronger, leaner and overall happier!

What are your future goals?

I want to continue to get stronger and learn new exercise routines to incorporate into my life. I have reached an entirely new level of fitness and I want to continue this journey!
