Fountain of Youth Mixologist - Adventure Mom - The Heidi of all Heidi's
As a stay at home mom my first priority has always been my family. A significant part of my day for many years has been filled with hours of driving, and watching my children train in their competitive sports. On average before joining John Savidis’ I would sit and watch them 20-25 hours a week, and add approximately another 10-12 hours of driving just to get them there. I started to feel like a hypocrite as my kids would progress further in their sports, the demands on their bodies were greater. We would often discuss food to fuel their bodies, the importance of rest or extra training they may need to safely perfect their skills. All the while somewhere along the way I forgot about myself in that equation, I forgot the importance of leading by example and practicing what you preach. It is easy to be that parent on the sidelines coaching your kids, truly having no clue the dedication and commitment that the kids are pouring into it.
Due to the years of sitting for hours on end, the lack of exercise, poor eating habits, and creating a whole new food group which mostly consisted of wine, my health showed signs of deterioration. That's a nice way of saying I got FAT!!
I have been a member for just over one year.
During one of my daughters classes, the coach asked another parent and myself if we wanted to do some of the conditioning with our girls, we both chuckled. Both of us thought we were going to go in there and show our girls we were strong. After all how hard could a couple of burbees, bear crawls and sit ups, really be? Well after about 5 minutes we were out of breath, and exhausted. The lesson I learned that day is, if I couldn’t even do their warmup I had no business giving advice on my kids training. It made me realize I wanted to be part of their team and leave the coaching to the professionals.
That eye opener made me realize I needed to make drastic changes to my health. I needed a place that was going to help transform me not only physically, but mentally. Somewhere that would hold me accountable for not only my workouts but my nutrition as well.
This program has changed so much in my life from my health, my state of mind and especially my physical appearance. Since joining John Savidis I have lost 45 lbs. Although it is what I have gained that is so much more important, the wealth of knowledge that I have been able to learn over the last year is absolutely priceless. It has helped me create lifestyle changes that I am confident I can stick with. I have learned what my limits are and how to exceed them. I have learned that calories are not created equal, that every meal I eat needs to be balanced. Most importantly I have learned that eating more often is more beneficial to my body then not eating enough. For the first time my metabolism is finally working the way that it should.
This program has helped me to be able to participate in sports or activities I enjoyed before. Activities that I had quit because I just didn't have the "time". The truth is as the weight crept on, I was out of shape and it no longer felt possible to keep going. I have a renewed love for kickboxing and John Savidis has helped make that possible.
Before starting this program I was feeling fatigued all the time and ill, I looked ill. This program has helped me gain more energy and given my skin a new lease, I look and feel younger.
Everyone is extremely impressed with my commitment to the program and becoming healthier. Since joining, I have had numerous friends that have also joined the program. Or given their health and fitness a serious overhaul
My husband and children are loving some of the new adventures we are going on and activities we are participating in together.
Not to spend another moment debating it... For them not to join would be unfortunate because they are missing out on the opportunity to become the best versions of themselves!
The list is endless, there is so many wonderful, friendly people there. Each one of them have impacted my journey in such a positive way.
When you surround yourself with like minded driven people with a common goal, you often will see success together.
Each and everyone of the trainers are absolutely incredible. Ten minutes into my very first Lean and fit class, I was gasping for air and felt like I could not go anymore. Boban came over to check on me, he brought me into the other room and had me walk on the treadmill. He was incredibly supportive and told me not to worry it gets easier, and the key is just to keep moving. He also mentioned the majority of people whether their in great shape or not have difficulty getting through their very first class. It was that moment that he made me a believer, he changed my outlook from it being unbearable to one day at a time, I will get through it. It suddenly felt possible.
Deb is a beast she has been a wealth of knowledge and encouragement. I just love her positivity.
But I owe a huge thank you to my personal trainer Jeff. He has been incredible; he has put up with my whining which alone earns him a gold star. Jeff is always attentive to my posture, and works around any limitations.
My future goals would be to continue to lose the excess fat, become leaner and stronger. I recently signed up for the strength and conditioning class, and I am looking forward to watching my body transform and see the progress of what I can lift over the next few weeks.
Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.
